Colorado’s "Ski Safety Act," located at Colo. Rev. Stat. Ann. §§ 33-44-101 to -114 provides for skier assumption of inherent dangers, and creates statutory duties for skiers and operators. Skiers, inclusive of sledders and snowboarders, have duties to ski within their abilities, with uphill skiers having a primary duty to avoid collision. Rocky Mountain Region Breaks All-Time Skier Visit Record

The National Association of Ski Areas trade group announced on May 1, 2019, that skier visits in the U.S. increased by nearly 11% over last season with more than 59 million visits. The growth was most dramatic in the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions. Rocky Mountain regions saw skier and snowboarder visits increase by 15.6%.
