Uphill Skier Collides Into Another at Vail

On December 7, 2011, Plaintiff Skip Johnson and defendant Kenneth Johnson were skiing at Vail Ski Resort in Vail, Colorado.  Kenneth Johnson skied into Skip Johnson from uphill and behind.  Skip Johnson sustained a right femur fracture that had to be surgically repaired.  The case was brought in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.  The case settled for $280,000.


Skier Crashes into Seven-Year-Old, Fracturing Femur

J.M., a minor.  On February 5, 2012, seven-year-old J.M. was skiing at Keystone Ski Resort in Summit County, Colorado.  He was wearing a helmet.  Mark Lincenberg skied into J.M. from uphill and behind.  J.M. suffered a right femur fracture, an abrasion to his left cheek, and a concussion.  His right femur fracture had to be surgically repaired, under general anesthesia, with internal fixation on February 6, 2012.  J.M. had to undergo, on August 14, 2012, a second surgery, under general anesthesia, to remove the hardware.  Jake’s medical expenses...
