On February 11, 2018, C.F. was skiing on the skier’s right side of Andrews run as he passed the treeline on the right side of lower Sashay, and continued slowly on Andrews while looking down Sashay eyeing a location to drop in. On March 8, 2017, two brothers and a friend were on their way back to the Elk Camp area near the end of the day. They had skied The Burn, taken Trestle down and around and rode the Alpine Springs Chair up. They unloaded from the chair proceeded down Turkey Trot.


Collision Ski Accident Injures Vail Ski Instructor

On January 26, 2017, R.F. was skiing with Beaver Creek/Vail Resort ski instructor Jennifer Ellis. Ms. Ellis and R.F. were following two of her grandchildren and another hired instructor down Latigo. This is a groomed blue run, or more difficult run. Latigo turns into Dally, a green or easiest run, which the group descended on. While on Dally, R.F. was blindsided and hit by Mr. Buckley, who was merging onto Dally from a glade on Addy’s, a black diamond or most difficult run.


Breckenridge Skier Hit by Snowboarder

On February 17, 2017, J.S. was skiing on the Columbine trail at Breckenridge Ski Resort in Summit County, Colorado. J.S. was skiing below Jess Porter on this intermediate run. Mr. Porter was snowboarding at a high rate of speed when crashed into J.S. from behind. J.S. was skiing with a companion who was behind him at the time of the collision. The companion caught the entire accident on his Go-Pro camera, leaving no doubt as to liability for the collision.


New Year’s Day Collision

New Year’s Day 2017 at Park City, Utah V.T. was descending the upper section of Another World, a blue, or intermediate run, when Mr. Filbrun entered Another World from an unmarked, gladed section of the mountain at a high rate of speed and collided into V.T.


Skier Collision Results in Severe Fracture

On January 10, 2016, the Plaintiff, P.T. and the Defendant, Sonia Ceranek, were skiing at Keystone Ski Resort. They were both descending the Flying Dutchman trail at Keystone Ski Resort. P.T. was skiing downhill of Ms. Ceranek, in control of his speed and course and plainly visible to uphill skiers. Ms. Ceranek was descending Flying Dutchman from uphill of him.

On February 17, 2015, Tom Dubert, a Chicago Fire Paramedic, was skiing at Keystone on vacation with his son and family friends. The five of them began skiing down the Flying Dutchman run. Mr. Dubert and one friend stopped to adjust their equipment while the remainder of the group continued down.


Vail Skier Crashes Into 9-year-old

On Sunday, March 11, 2012 (Spring Break), B.P. (then 9 years of age) was skiing at Vail Ski Resort in Eagle County, Colorado. Lee Skavanger skied into B.P. from uphill, behind, and at high speed, causing B.P. to sustain a right, mid-shaft femur fracture. Collision from Behind Causes Major Leg Fracture

On February 13, 2013, Plaintiff Barbara Findlay and the defendant Shaw Hughes, a student at Aspen High School, were skiing on the Exhibition Ski Trail at Aspen Highlands Ski Resort in Colorado. Shaw was high-speed skiing with a group of other young, high school students when he collided at high speed from behind into Mrs. Findlay. Uphill Skier Collides Into Another at Vail

On December 7, 2011, Plaintiff Skip Johnson and defendant Kenneth Johnson were skiing at Vail Ski Resort in Vail, Colorado.  Kenneth Johnson skied into Skip Johnson from uphill and behind.  Skip Johnson sustained a right femur fracture that had to be surgically repaired.  The case was brought in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.  The case settled for $280,000.
