A veteran ski instructor at the Deer Valley Resort has died of injuries suffered when he collided with a lift tower pole. This sad tragedy occurred on the last day that Dear Valley was open for the season.

Park City police identified the victim of the Sunday afternoon accident, at the Sterling Express Chairlift tower, as 42-year-old Rafal “Rafi” Uzieblo, of Pinebrook. Uzieblo was skiing on the Bird’s Eye run of Bald Mountain.

Police investigators concluded the death was an accident.

Uzieblo had worked for Deer Valley seven years, resort officials said.
