Gentleman – start your snow guns! Arapahoe Basin and Loveland ski areas cranked up their snow guns and started snowmaking operations last Friday night. Loveland enjoyed a five-hour head start on snowmaking, but it remains to be seen which resort will win this season’s race to open first.
Beginning 6 p.m. Friday, snowmaking started at both Loveland Basin and Loveland Valley, the ski area said. A spokesman for Arapahoe Basin, posted in his blog that temperatures dropped into the teens overnight, prompting snowmaking to begin around 11 p.m. at A-Basin.
Mother Nature is helping with snow predicted for the high country this evening and tomorrow morning, with accumulations up to six inches. The first day of the ski season in Colorado cannot be far away!
