All you have to do is look at the Continental Divide to know that late storms were still dumping snow in the Colorado Mountains.  And Arapahoe Basin ski resort is taking full advantage of Mother Nature’s bounty, announcing last week that it will extend its season through at least June 22.

Resort officials announced Friday that the area was adding three bonus weekends to the season: June 6-8, June 13-15 and June 20-22, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only. Weekday skiing at A-Basin ended today.

Since the season opened in October, A-Basin has received more than 440 inches of snow, well above the 307 inches it received during the 2012-13 season. Several May storms dropped 47 inches of snow. Though the late season skiing is not common, it has occurred on occasion.  A-Basin has stayed open through July 4 several times – in 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 2011.
