Late spring snowstorms are enabling Colorado’s ski season to continue! Arapahoe Basin announced Wednesday that it will stay open until June 14 as the resort has received nearly 50 inches of snow this month.
A-Basin, one of only three ski areas remaining open in North America, originally planned to close on June The ski area, with a base elevation of 10,780 feet, opened its season Oct. 17. It is the only resort still open in Colorado.
Regular ski area operations will continue through June 7 and the resort will close from June 8 to 11 before reopening for the weekend on June 12.
“With our snowy and cool spring weather, the skiing conditions are better than we have seen for years at this time in May,” Alan Henceroth, the area’s chief operating officer, said in a statement. “We will be re-opening for at least one more long weekend.”
During the bonus weekend the Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Mountain lifts will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
