About Steve McWhirter

Steve McWhirter joined Chalat Hatten & Koupal, P.C. after several years as an associate in a small plaintiffs personal injury practice, following an impressive military career overseas.

Mr. McWhirter joins the firm as an associate. He is a member of the Colorado Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver - Sturm College of Law in 2009. Since then, he has represented plaintiffs in personal injury cases, with a special focus on legal malpractice. He has also acted as defense counsel in several cases. During law school, Mr. McWhirter represented the People of the State of Colorado as an Assistant District Attorney under the Student Practice Act. Prior to that, he served as an intelligence analyst and Russian linguist in the U.S. Army. He is fluent in both Russian.

Mr. McWhirter's practice concentrates on civil trial work, with an emphasis on professional negligence and automobile accidents. Born and raised in Nebraska, he is thrilled to be practicing law in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains.
