A 13-year-old boy from Texas has died after a collision with a tree at Copper Mountain, on the beginner’s run, Vein Glory. Ski Patrol received a call about the collision at 1:00pm on Friday, responded and took the boy to St. Anthony’s Copper Mountain Medical Clinic. The boy was pronounced dead at 1:30pm.
Copper Mountain is involved in initiatives to raise awareness of helmet safety and increase usage. However, the resort does not require guests, other than ski school participants to wear helmets and the boy was not wearing one at the time of the accident.
